The first in a plethora of wildlife related blogs!

Welcome to The Wildlife Portal’s Blog with me Jake Willers.
OK, so what’s it all about? Well having spent many years in the world of wildlife and television, I wanted to create a one-stop wildlife website that would excite people and educate at the same time.
So I came up with the idea of The Wildlife Portal.tv , a site that offers wildlife videos (max 5 mins), that concentrate on one particular species each episode. Each video’s page contains links to an interactive species distribution map, fact sheets, and worksheets for children to have fun with while learning a thing or two.
And that, in a nutshell, is it!
Why? … Why not!
As a child I had the privilege of being surrounded by a multitude of species at Shepreth Wildlife Park in the UK. I was fascinated in all creatures weird and wonderful and loved learning about the unique traits and habits that each species had to offer. This fascination came into its own as I got older, as I found a true passion for learning that had been lacking for all other subjects (much to my teacher’s dismay).
So, I wanted to offer a means of passing on my passion for wildlife in a way that is probably the most accessible today, The Web.
As the great Greek philosopher Epictetus once said, ‘No great thing is created suddenly.’ And The Wildlife Portal is no exception. It is a work in progress that will evolve to become a user friendly site once it has been tried, tested and transformed by its users feedback.
So don’t be shy, once you’ve tried it out leave some feedback that will be wisely used to improve the site.
OK, so the site isn’t actually up and running yet as the work involved to get it there is huge… but its coming, and very soon. So stay posted.
In the meantime this blog is a place for random wildlife chatter, somewhere to come and read all sorts of wildlife related banter.
Thanks for reading,
Jake.
